Tamino & Angele - Sunflower

One of the most intriguing and unique presences in the indie world right now, Belgian-Egyptian-Lebanese artist Tamino released a new music video in collaboration with fellow singer-songwriter Angele, the mind behind pop hits like “Fever” and “Balance ton quoi”. Titled “Sunflower,” this video showcases hauntingly melancholic vocals and poetic lyricism, likening the care of nurturing a sunflower to the devotion of love.

Tamino initially gained attention with his 2016 release, “Habibi,” putting his incredible vocal range on display in the single and proving that he’s more than earned the nickname of “the Egyptian Jeff Buckley.” Those familiar with Buckley will know that this comparison is no small praise, but Tamino’s mesmerizing style is by no means a simple recreation. Combining elements of rock, jazz, classical, and the distinct lilt of Arabic melisma (vocal runs), this artist shows not only that he’s earned a likening to one of the greatest singers to ever live, but also that he can bridge the gap between Eastern and Western music in stunning fashion. Maybe even more impressive is his consistency - the quality, authenticity, and raw emotion of his vocals/guitar playing are just as apparent in live performances as they are in studio versions, if not even more so.

Tamino is one of the rare artists of a lifetime - his music doesn’t get stuck in your head, it attaches unshakably to your soul. WatchSunflower” if you haven’t already, and while you’re at it, listen to the rest of his discography too.
